Sami Bayly - About

I am a 23 y/o student, currently completing my Honours in Natural History Illustration at the University of Newcastle, Australia.

I am inspired by artists like William T. Cooper, Bernard Durin and other Natural History Illustrators, after seeing their work whilst growing up.
I love to try new mediums and techniques as I never know what style I might fall in love with next.

However, at this point in time my most preferred medium is watercolour, and I love illustrating any animal that can be defined as weird or wonderful (or even ugly)!

I am currently working on a children’s book titled “The Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Ugly Animals” published by Hachette Australia, which will be released on the 29th of October 2019.
If you want to be kept up to date with my process, book launch/signing, and even see some sneak peaks of the animals involved, then follow me on my socials.

If you have enquiries about my work, please don't hesitate to contact me.
